While acknowledging that suppliers and retailers alike have found the early part of 2018 challenging, Arlene Nee of Absolute Jewellery has noticed a marked improvement in recent weeks that augers well for the coming months. “The air of negativity has definitely lifted throughout all corners of the country and been replaced by a cautious optimism”, she says.
“This is especially apparent in our niche market segment where strategic price points for fashion and costume jewellery is in great demand. It also reflects the modern-day lifestyle attitude of impulse buying of little treats often, rather than major purchases infrequently. Our extensive range of over 2000 pieces of Irish-designed jewellery offer something for everyone and so caters extremely well for this trend.
“Recent fashion trends have seen increased demand for fine, delicate jewellery pieces that can be layered with two or maybe three bracelets or necklaces worn together. Our new designs cater for this development and also satisfy the preference for rose gold.
“Quality of service is equally important. We have found that by supporting our retailers with new and ever-changing Spring and Autumn collections, supplemented by intermittent injections of additional lines, is rewarded with customer loyalty. It is a two-way process and a genuine partnership that sustains the trading relationship in good times and bad. Having weathered the challenge of the early part of the year, we and our retail customers are poised for a significant uptake over the coming months.
