Mac Quillan Home- making luxury an everyday affordable experience

Over the last two decades, MacQuillan Home has grown from a small distributor, supplying a limited range of giftware, to one of Ireland’s leading providers of quality lighting, interior and home wares. An Irish-owned and family-run business established by Declan and Miriam MacQuillan “we keep quality at the heart of our designs.  Our fusion of style and superior craftsmanship, sourced from across the globe, along with attention to detail, makes luxury an affordable everyday experience for our customers”

MacQuillan Home now has an extensive portfolio including lighting, mirrors, furniture, candle holders and lanterns, Christmas ornaments and gifts, giftware and frames. It has a widespread customer base of retailers throughout Ireland and the UK, and a major distribution centre in Duleek, Co Meath.

Despite the sluggish first quarter, Declan is quite optimistic for the remainder of the year. “There is no denying that the earlier part of the year was disappointing for most people in retail”, says Declan, “the weather in particular making it especially challenging. However, the remainder of the year looks much brighter. Employment is up, especially in the IT sector where salaries are at the higher end of the scale, and house building is also increasing.

“Interior lighting, mirrors and occasional furniture, are also benefitting from increased spending activity in the home refurbishment sector. While less people may be trading up, it is obvious that they are upgrading and re-decorating their homes. This trend is fueled by the popularity of design/home décor supplements in the print media, and of course the likes of TV shows such as Room to Improve.

“We see confirmation of this pattern through orders resulting from our participation in Showcase in the RDS and the Furniture Show in Birmingham, and also via our web shop sales which are now becoming more significant. While market conditions are still challenging, all of these more recent omens point to a much more improved and optimistic outlook for the remainder of the year”.

We look forward to exhibiting at our premier Trade Fair of the year, the Autumn Gift & Home Fair at Citywest in August.
